Dear Friends of Civic Education:
The most important role of public education is teaching our
children to be good citizens. Civic responsibility means not
only to possess knowledge of government, but to learn about
processes and institutions that are effective in improving
community conditions and economic development, developing skills
necessary to participate in policy making processes, and
developing a mentality that includes performing lifelong service
for the common good.
Because civic participation and education is one of the most
fundamental elements of a healthy democracy and a strong
economy, our goals are to promote awareness and partnerships
between schools and communities that will support DuPage efforts
in civic education and developing and implementing strategies
that will support students and schools in sustaining
high-quality citizenship education and community responsibility.
