  4. If you were educated in a foreign country, your foreign credentials must have been evaluated before you can apply. Click here to find out how to have credentials evaluated. After your evaluation is completed and returned to you, you must schedule an appointment with a certification specialist at the Regional Office of Education by calling 630-407-5800. You will be asked to bring your official evaluation, an original transcript(s) from your country, and other necessary paperwork.

  5. If you hold a valid teaching certificate and are to be employed as a paraprofessional in a school, you do not need a Paraprofessional Approval. You can be hired using your teaching certificate. (School Code Reference: 23 Administrative Code CH 1, S. 1.630 Noncertificated Personnel).
