DuPage County ROE and the West Suburban Science Supervisors invited regional high school teachers to join in a project to raise student achievement, strengthen curriculum, develop assessment items, and improve Biology and Chemistry instruction. This collaborative project consisted of a series of sessions that included:

  1. Determined essential components of a first-year Biology and Chemistry course.
  2. Refined essential components using feedback from school teachers.
  3. Finalized essential components and align with state standards and framework items.
  4. Designed curriculum-aligned assessments that monitor achievement and inform instruction.
  5. Refined assessments using feedback from building teachers and align with state standards and framework items.
  6. Finalized assessments to align with Illinois state testing.
  7. Shared products and adjust planning for the next curricular areas (Earth Science,  Physics)
