THE DUPAGE ROE JOINS IN CELEBRATING LOCAL OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST EVAN LYSACEK
Neuqua Valley Graduate and Olympic Gold Medalists Figure Skater
Evan Lysacek was recently honored by his hometown of Naperville
and school. Evan became the first recipient of the Distinguished
Alumni Award at an all-school assembly. In his remarks to the
4200+ students gathered there, Evan thanked the faculty and
staff at Neuqua for providing him with an excellent educational
opportunity and a “safe haven” from the hectic life of a elite
athlete. He encouraged the students to go after their dreams,
the type of encouragement he said he was grateful to get from
his teachers when he was a student there.
Dr. Darlene J Ruscitti presented Evan with an official
resolution for the DuPage Regional Office of Education, stating,
“Evan Lysacek’s dedication to his athletic and academic pursuits
and his graceful display and poise both on the ice and world
stage serves as both a role model for our students and brings
great honor to his family, schools, community, county, state and
nation and exemplifies the outstanding educational opportunities
