FORWARD Initiative 2010 Youth Advisory Committee
Obesity has
reached epidemic proportions. In DuPage County alone, 31% of elementary students
are obese or overweight. The FORWARD Initiative is a county-wide program to
prevent and reduce obesity in DuPage County. FORWARD, led by the DuPage County
Health Department, represents over 30 partner agencies focusing efforts on
obesity prevention, health, physical activity and wellness and nutrition.
An advisory committee, co-chaired by Dr. Darlene Ruscitti, Superintendent of the
DuPage County Regional Office of Education, is a looking for youth members to
fill positions for this year. Any student between the ages of 14 and 18 who has
an interest in health and wellness is encouraged to apply. To learn more about
FORWARD and to find an application to become a student health champion, go to
www.forwarddupage.org.

Dr. Darlene Ruscitti speaks at a
kick-off event to promote FORWARD, a new
initiative designed to stop obesity
throughout DuPage County.
